AppleCare Florida (formerly a mess of other stuff)

The Apple phone number to get a definitive answer directly from the 
horse's mouth on this is (800) 275-2273 - ask for administration, or tell 
the operator you have a question about AppleCare availability in Florida.

Not sure why there is so much misinformation about this. The rants may 
make one feel better, but obscure the facts.

Florida law (for better or worse) dictates that AppleCare is available in 
Florida only if you have a Federal Tax Identification Number.

In my case, I will use my NY address. AppleCare is portable i.e. if we 
have a problem in Florida, the computers are covered by AppleCare. That's 
contrary to reports I have read, but IS confirmed by Apple.

Doesn't matter who you buy it from - that's the deal. That's also 
contrary to reports        I have read, but is also confirmed by Apple.

I know nothing about the international implications. That's a question 
for (800) 275-2273.
