X Apps Freakout

Today has been quite the day. 

Sound in system preferences won't launch. It stops at "Loading Sound," and just hangs indefinitely.
Stickies won't display and the menu bar remains inactive. 
Mail X does not display the mail drawer and the option is gray in the menu bar, which does operate. 

Explorer, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Quark apps seem fine.
