[Ti] Printing Problems

John - that sounds like a very frustrating situation.

You might consider downloading and installing (the free/open source) 
"gimp-print-4.2.5", follow the clear instructions, and see if that 
enables you to print using your Brother 1240 printer.
I use this to print from OS X to my Epson SC800.

I am sorry that I am unable to tell you what an error 1282 is, or 
what to do about it.
Did you already try trashing the "preferences"? files like:

	com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist

and re-starting?  That is all I can think to do, as a 'user'.  No 
doubt there are technical specialists on the List who can tell us a 
more systematic approach to understanding and rsolving this kind of 
problem.
