You don't actually "tape" the battery in place, rather place tape (thicker tape, like masking or other) in to help wedge the battery into place.

You may want to consider the age of the battery and if you're getting significantly less battery life (say 1-2 hours as opposed to 3+) it may be better just to get the new battery.
