[Ti] dirt slow Ti 550

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and encouragement. It was ultimately determined to be a hardware failure, most likely the firewire port. The Ti would not show up as a target disk and although OS 9 didn't experience the slowdown, no fire wire devices could function on it either.

That plus the kernel_task maxing out the cpu had the people at the apple store convinced. they didn't even try to troubleshoot it themselves before they boxed it up to send in for hardware repair. according to the kid at the counter, they'll most likely replace the motherboard. I'm just glad it's still under warranty.

I had been waffling on purchasing the extended warranty. I waffled no more and bought it while i was at the apple store this morning.
