In the future, yes. In the *near* future, highly unlikely.

It took just over a year for the G4 to get from desktop to laptop. It would seem reasonable to me to expect a G5 PowerBook in 6 to 12 months, more likely closer to 12 than 6 months.

Depends on supplies of the chips as well.... hopefully we won't have the supply disasters that Motorolla had a few years ago.

You can be sure that Apple is working flat out on a PowerBook G5, but Apple and IBM will both make sure that they have chips for their desktop lines in ample supply before venturing into laptops.

There's also this rumoured 15.4" PowerBook that's due out any day now. If that's a G4 chip then Apple will want to get at least 6 months out of it before making it obsolete. It is very possible that we'll get either a 1.25 or 1.42 PowerBook (ie same chips as what the obsolete G4s use).

Then again... maybe the 15.4 PB will be a G5... that would shake things up nicely.

Of course, don't forget the trusty old iBooks, that are *still* on G3 chips... a processor that was around more than half a decade ago!!!
