In the UK the cheapest PCMCIA wireless card bought on ebay will set you
back around 30 pounds.
An Airport card around 60.

Stick the Airport card in and it works first time. Stick the PCMCIA
card in a PC laptop and you spend a day trying to configure it (I've
done this for clients who've gone and bought the cheapest "unsupported"
wireless they can find -- at their cost I might add ;).

Stick the PC card in a Ti and you need the ioexperts.com drivers i
believe to get it working. I've never attempted it.

If you ask me the extra 30 pounds is not a lot more to pay for
connectivity "out of the box". But I take your point.
