I too think these guys are way off base.  iTunes for Windows is about selling iPods and capturing a larger audience for iTMS...all of which makes Apple's bottom line healthier.  Apple makes it's money selling hardware (even iTMS is probably a break even business) and leverages it's hardware sales by bundling great productivity apps such as iTunes, iDVD, iMovie, etc.  Keeping iTunes Mac ahead of iTunes Windows is MUCH more beneficial for them in the long run and it has the potential of convincing those who like iTunes Windows to switch...much in the manner that many hardcore gamers may have went PC because the cutting edge games were released on the PC far in advance of the Mac release.

Look at iTunes Windows as a way for Apple to display their expertise in designing great software to the great unwashed.  This is advertising to attempt to move more people from non-Apple hardware to Macs, not the bridgehead for Apple to move from the Mac to Wintel.
