    My first one died within the first year (at the PB connector) and the
second one has lasted I guess a year and 1/2 now, but the light ring doesn't
always work without fiddling - but the battery always charges.

    I seldom wrap up the cord though.

    If it were to fail again I'd solder it myself (though it would be a
little tricky if you had no experience).
