[Ti] (OT) sending faxes over ethernet

The only way this is done is to send it to a fax service that will receive the fax via email and then forward it on to the phone network.  i.e. <http://www.efax.com>

Having Panther does not change anything for your friend. Panther has fax capabilities for going out the analog modem port. Ethernet and analog phone lines don't cross over except by 3rd party services that tie them together.
