iChat on Ti867 - grumbly noise on audio chat.

Here's the assessment:
iChat from my Powerbook to an iMac.
- iMac can hear the powerbook just fine.
- All I get on the Powerbook is a grumble noise, even through 
headphones.
This is through a LAN, so bandwidth isn't a problem.
Powerbook is using a 802.11g card, iMac is 100TX to the router.
iChat Connection doctor says it's a perfect connection.
Argh...
