clock reset without battery?

I have a Titanium that is currently without battery as I plan to buy a 
new one.

I notice that if I power the machine off and have it unplugged for a 
day or so, the next time I start up and login I get a warning about the 
clock being set to before 2001.  It is set to 12/31/69 7:00pm.

I would think that there is an internal BIOS battery that would keep 
this going -- am I mistaken?
