One thing you need to be aware is Apple are very careful about which
parts they cover under warranty and which part they don't. At the time I
had my Ti 400, the plastic "frame" sandwiched between the Titanium parts
was not covered, for example. So this is the first thing you should
check. Was your Applecare a 1 year? if so you could always call up, and
extend to the three year, and then get the lid looked it (if it is
indeed covered).
If not, your best bet would be some local technicians who specialise in
Apple products. The Apple store is probably a good starting point.
