I picked up one of the machines in question last week. It replaced a 
800mhz DVI with 768mb ram. I have better things to do than run a 
benchmark so I can't speak to the numbers. With 1.5gb ram, the new 
machine is considerably faster  - twice as fast? doubt it, but there is 
"oomph" when I am working simultaneously in CAD, Illustrator, and some 
ram intensive proprietary apps -  that is a change from the 800. The 
hard drive is nice and quiet, the screen is as bright as my cinema 
display, and all of my apps happily coexist.

Now, the few times I have posted to this listserve I have been 
eviscerated by someone who finds my contribution at best, inane. I 
request that if you have nothing nice to say in response - don't.
