I put together a G4 Gigabit Ethernet from parts collected from around
the world - eBay, Swap List, various merchants, and my basement
stash. I bought a CD-DVD Rom from OtherWorld Computing. $30
refurbished Matsushita SR-8582(Apple 2X DVD, 24X CD-Rom). It does CD
stuff just fine. What it does not do is play DVD's from Hollywood
Video. But it will play the only DVD I own - the one that came with
Jim Heid's book - 'The Macintosh iLife'. DVD Player fires up when I
put in a dvd, but I get only a black screen. Anything but 'eject'
gets an error message or makes DVD Player lock up and quit.
I don't know enough about OS X to check out other drivers/extensions/whatever.
I'm running OS X 10.2.5 I just tried in OS 9 and dvd's will play so
the problem has to be something in OS X.
Anybody got any ideas?
