[X Newbies] Lots of Dock bouncing, slow launches

Solved this nuisance. Somehow I had fouled Directory Access settings; 
NetInfo was looking for a non-existent parent directory. Lotsa bouncy, 
bouncy and waiting for programs to launch? Check your Directory Access 
settings.
