USB Drives and OS X

I've had a 30 gig USB hard drive that I've used since the days before 
OS X, but it doesn't show up on OS X.
If I restart the machine in OS 9, I have no problem, but OS X ignores 
the drive. I've looked everywhere for drivers for this beast but can't 
find any . (I bought it from Club Mac, and can't find drivers there 
either.)
Any ideas would be appreciated. TIA
