[X Newbies] swapfiles and changing swapdisk

No, quite right. I used SwapCop, can be found via Versiontracker.

When I partitioned my disk (ages ago, it seems now..:-) I left 2 GB 
for OSX. That's a bit on the small side, I realise now. When I do it 
again I will make it larger, 5 GB I think. But on the other hand I 
try to keep all programs on another disk, not together with OSX. Only 
those that really insists on installing on system disk go there. 
That's why I can make it with only 2 GB. I had aproximately 600 MB 
free for swaps, and did alright until the strange problem (with to 
many swapfiles) accured.

How much free space have you got?


But I totally agree with Bill Reburns post on changing swapdisk, 
don't do it just for fun. I did it, because I had to try something 
because "something" (turned out to be finder) made my system produce 
many swapfiles, so I had to get a larger area for swaps. But I would 
not put them together with ordinary files, that would increase 
fragmentation a lot, I think.
