Bruce, There are two ways of selecting the browser: 1) in System Preferences, open the Internet settings, click on the last tab on the window (Web), select default web browser. 2) [and also for your simpletext files] Do a get info (command i) on one of the files and pull down the Open with: section, click on the application pull-down tab and select the application you want to use finish by clicking on the Change All.. button.
