Epson Perfection 1260 Scanner

I thought when I first got my Epson Perfection 1260 Scanner it opened 
in OS X. Now has to have OS 9 to scan a document. I had problems 
setting it up and understanding it at first but now open Epson Smart 
Panel to operate the scanner.

Anyone have one of these that maybe can walk me through the setup via 
this list or by phone. If by phone send me your number via email and
