Links in mail

I've noticed an annoying tendency for HTML mails to have links with a 
specified target like this:

  <a href="http://blah" target="_blank">

and I've noticed that Mail doesn't work on these. First, I don't see 
why anyone would put a dummy target argument in there (I'll bet they're 
using some MS software to compose it). Second, seems like Mail ought to 
work with it anyway. This is mostly in professionally formatted stuff, 
like updates from news sources and magazines.
