Mail doesn't show animated gifs

Hi,

My father has a G4 iMac and uses Mail. He gets many messages from
friends where the images don't show up, or don't show up right. Does
anyone know why? Does Mail not do "html mail" or "formatted mail?"

I can't answer his question because I'm still using Eudora 3.x on
OS9, and I use text-based only as my lists don't on the whole
permit either formatted mail or attachments.
