[X Newbies] HD Crash

Update:

I erased the drive, and it seems to now be repaired. However, this 
machine will  NOT boot from a 9.2.1 CD, it gets part the way then turns 
the screen black.
This is one of those in between machines whose OS 9 was on a disk image 
in the full install CD.
So, I am going to have to boot with those, install their "package" then 
bump it up to Panther.
At least this way I get the packaged games and apps back. The only one 
I was upset at losing was Appleworks.
This was a very strange in between thing.........<sigh>
