Update: I erased the drive, and it seems to now be repaired. However, this machine will NOT boot from a 9.2.1 CD, it gets part the way then turns the screen black. This is one of those in between machines whose OS 9 was on a disk image in the full install CD. So, I am going to have to boot with those, install their "package" then bump it up to Panther. At least this way I get the packaged games and apps back. The only one I was upset at losing was Appleworks. This was a very strange in between thing.........<sigh> On Jul 25, 2004, at 12:37 AM, Jane wrote: > Hello, > > I have an eMac that seems to have a broken HD. > To make a long story short, while trying to update something, I got a > strange message about OS 9 and then I could not longer boot into 9, > which I had done to try to see what the problem was.
