No, Photoshop is NOT "software for the rich." It is "software for 
people who use it to make money."

Photoshop (like Quark and the other multi-hundred-dollar programs) are 
NOT TOYS for doing your treehouse newsletter. They are PRO TOOLS for 
PRO USE.

The cost of an app like Photoshop can be made back *IN A DAY* by a 
skilled commercial artist.

If you're not a skilled commercial artist or a student of that art, I 
would suggest that you look at Photoshop Elements, which is 90% the 
same program priced at $99.

I regret to say that I'm not aware of any REALLY GOOD desktop 
publishing software priced at "consumer" levels, but MacPublisherPro, 
AppleWorks, Print Shop and Ragtime (among others) all have at least 
some of the features you might be looking for at consumer prices.
