[X-Newbies] iTunes Win and MP3 files (sort of OT)

I share a large number of MP3 files with my daughter, who is using
iTunes under Win XP. The problem is that while I can edit all of the
ID tags for the MP3 files I have stored locally, she can only edit
some of the MP3 files, many of which are the same as mine. They all
have been ripped locally from our CD collection, at various times and
none purchased online, so there isn't any copyright protection or
anything. Is this a known issue? Has anyone else come across this?
