[X-Newbies] recovering files from a CD

I accidently wrote a DVD movie/slide show on a already used CD-rom  
with a lot of pictures on it. Alas,  discoverd this after writing the  
second track, which I believed impossible. Is there a way to get the  
pictures from the first session back? Disk Utility does not provide  
useful options I think...

Thanks for the help, I seem really stuck right now.
