or you can leave the default what it is and when you _don't_ want  
Safari to display the PDF inline right click or CONTROL-CLICK on the  
link and Safari will download the PDF and leave it to you to display  
it with whatever software you wish to use. If you use Speed Doubler  
the contextual menu that comes up on a right click includes Download  
with Speed Doubler and Disable Speed Doubler so the rt. click is  
pretty powerful.
