In certain situations, putting the WEP or WAP key in with a $ in  
front of the sequence resolves the problem. That's probably one of  
the potential "characters" they are talking about. Why not just call  
Apple and ask them as advised?

Claiming that the Macintosh is inferior to Windows because most  
people use Windows is like saying that all other restaurants are  
inferior to McDonald's.
