I love OS X's built-in inline spell checking feature.  But it doesn't 
work everywhere, and it doesn't do automatic correction, nor does it have 
customizable shorthand glossaries, a Thesaurus, specialized dictionaries 
(e.g. medical and legal), etc.

So I use this to supplement it:

Spell Catcher X ($30 or $40 depending on which version you choose)
