[X-Newbies] Firefox text input problems.

For some reason, Firefox has lost the ability for me to input text in forms.
This happens both with GMail as well as with Wikipedia and other sites, as
well as the "find in this page" function. The undo and redo functions don't
seem to be working properly either. They work, but each field has to be
highlighted before "undo" or "redo" work. The only thing that I can think of
that could cause this is that all of a sudden, about a week ago, all the
startup items under "system preferences  -> accounts -> user -> login items"
disappeared. Any ideas?

PS I had to create this e-mail in TextEdit and paste into GMail.
