Richard, This wasn't exactly your question, but I recently did this, using SuperDuper as my backup/cloning software. I had a 40 GB hard drive that was nearly full, I installed a much larger additional, internal drive which I cloned and made my new startup drive. It couldn't have been simpler and worked wonderfully with the exception that I had to fix my items on the dock so that they'd work the way I was used to. In addition, some of my browsers continued to download to my old hard drive until I changed those settings in the preferences. Otherwise, very simple. Sorry, can't help with CCC, but consider this another testimonial for SuperDuper. It's worth the money in my book.
