[X Servers] remote login to an Xserver

Id like to put in my 2cents.

The reason you cant access your shared files is most likely a firewall
on either end.

Are you unable to access AFP shares? I would assume this.

You may want to look into VPN, FTP, or SCP. All are options on your
xserver.

I would also voice in that ARD would allow you to control and send
files (unfortunately, only allowing you to send to the controlled
machine).

I personally use ARD and FTP and SSH to remote admin my xserver. This
gives me the greatest flexibility to avoid firewalls (ARD can be
blocked by some), fully admin (see command_line.pdf from apple.com),
and retrieve from everywhere. I know a lot of people would argue
against FTP for its insecurity, but one has to face the fact that every
computer everywhere has an ftp client.
