[X-Unix] Altering .bashrc in bash to add to $PATH

What about if you use the ln command 

Ln -s /sqldirectory/sql ~/sql

This puts it in your home directory so that you can do exactly what you
are trying to do.  You can also substitute ~/sql for any directory in
your $PATH. Usually /bin is where most people place it
