Unfortunately it won't. I _did_ try that already, and posted the 
results.

   $ rm -rf /Volumes/CLEARLIGHT/foo/legoland
   rm: /Volumes/CLEARLIGHT/foo/legoland/èÿÿÿvk␀␀..␀␀: 
File name too long
   rm: /Volumes/CLEARLIGHT/foo/legoland: Directory not empty
   $
