Why do you think it is so different? Have you cd'd to /dev? It's 
exactly what you'll see in most garden variety Unix installs: 
terminal configs, other device files, bluetooth (if you have a 
bluretooth-enabled machine, disk drivers for all the mounts, random, 
urandom... etc, etc
