Apple implemented their own version of this fix (as far as I know) with the
Mail Server update for 10.3.9 server

Also: for the sake of clarity, I know I would appreciate the use of "hack"
to be avoided when discussing computers, and meaning anything other than its
already blurred usage (illegal/unwanted computer access vs. legally
exploring or testing the limits of computers, computer OS'es and software,
etc.)
