[X4U] QuickTime 7.0.3 not playing complete clip

Over the past several weeks I have received three QT presentations ranging in size from 80MB to 120MB in mpg format. The smaller one played to completion, however with the other two only about 1/3rd is recognized and the progress indicator erroneously shows it has gone to the end.

They all play normally with VLC, but the question remains what QT control do I have set improperly?

Advise will be most appreciated.
