Gizmo is now offering free voice mail sent to your email address
as an attachment and built in 64 kbps mono wav file recording  
capabilities
Skype lacks. No text chat yet. But conferencing is already working
too. It's open source. Sound is slightly lower fidelity to that of
Skype's fantastic "like the other people are in the same room with
you" super hi-fi sound.

I still prefer talking on Skype simply because of the higher
fidelity. Both fully cross platform of course. And both are free.
They currently have complementary functionality that make both a must
have - unless you don't think your computer is your phone.
