Interesting read, but I'm just wondering if the iTunes route is the
best way to go if you don't want to spend extra money? There are some
down sides, as mentioned in the article, but for just a quick,
"disposable" copy without spending extra $$ is there a better method?

I do have to say, I've been a Toast user for years, and it makes it
as easy as you can get. Fire up Toast, hit the copy button, put is CD
and hit record. It transparently makes a copy on the hard drive,
spits out the original and asks for a blank. When its done burning
the new CD, it erases the copy on the hard drive.
