Take a look at Gimp-Print for Mac OS X:

There's also:
     http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/


They don't mention DeskWriters at all, but it may be close enough to 
some they do support to work.

BTW, Gimp-Print is included in OS X 10.3.

You either need to find a print server that supports Macs - most don't, 
and those that do usually only support Postscript printers - or get 
Keyspan's USB server:
