true but I've seen these work without any more problems than the 
average PC user is likely to find.

Sometimes.

Generally speaking, IME, you're better off using the software that 
comes with the card (Linksys at least) than with Microsoft's "Zero 
Config" stuff.

I've had a Linksys card with a Linksys router that kept repeatedly 
popping up:

	"Network is unsecure, do you want to join anyway?"
	no [YES]

and I'd choose YES  and it would pop the same bloody panel back up.  
This would happen infinity-1 times when all of a sudden it would decide 
to work.  And this was XP.

I'm so glad not to be dealing with that crap anymore.
