[X4U] G5 Fan Run Amok

What OS are you running? Does it have the Power Mac G5 Firmware  
Update 5.1.4? It is here:  http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

Mine still speeds up every now and then, but nothing like a B1 taking  
off like it used to!
