[X4U] Panther and laptop

I gave my granddaughter my G3 laptop which is loaded with Panther OS. She deleted the folder with my name on it which had a library, etc. in it. How important is this? Do I need to reinstall Panther? Everything is working except internet access through Ethernet on her dad's PC. I'm visiting and that's how I'm connected, but I can't get the G3 connected.
