Apple has a history of cutting off "old" technology that they have  
decided will be superseded by something else. For Apple PowerPC is  
dead, so even if it were possible, I doubt they would do it.

But out of curiosity: where did you find the above information? I  
doubt it in the SMP-sense.

That would certainly not be an SMP system, but more like the OS  
running on one type of CPUs and the others are merely treated as add- 
ons. We have seen various kinds of chips on cards added to PCs and  
Macs before, that's true. It's nothing specific to an OS but requires  
ddrivers and applications.
