[X4U] Tiger DVD burning: LAME!

sorry if this seems uneven, but I'm just a hair 
cranky right now..

I have spent 8-1/2 hours to burn 4 data DVDs (2 
unique burns with 2 copies each) and I have had 
almost no end of stupid problems in the process.

Including:

having to reset open firmware, trash prefs, and 
perform multiple restarts to clear up what a 
dialog box claimed were "communication failures" 
with the DVD burner!

Not to mention that all of this malarkey is 
giving me about a 60% media failure rate.

OH! and you think I can just drag files into a 
folder and burn that? Heck no! that's WAY too 
obvious. I have to make disk images and burn THEM!

the Tiger/Mini duo can't figure out that 4.25GB 
of data really does fit onto a 4.74GB DVD. 4.11GB 
fit even more comfortably, but the Mac can't 
figure out that 4.74 is BIGGER than 4.11!

Pardon my grammar, but this don't speak too good 
about the "world's most advanced, most powerful 
operating system."

The concept is SO simple: take this stuff and 
burn it to that disk.
