Ummm... because 111.222.333.44 isn't a valid IP address? :P
333 is not a valid byte.

This is surely a Samba problem.
My Tiger system shows "version 3.0.10" when `smbd --version` is run
at the command-line. I would suggest this be your first stop,
although to be honest I'd imagine that getting this resolved might
take quite a little bit of research.
