I have an idea. According to a recent experience I had with my 2 mini's 
superdrives, I learned that apple doesn't really support +R media.

yeah, it sez it does in your system profiler under About This Mac, but 
if you go to apple with a problem and they hear that you're using +R, 
they'll tell you it's your media and that they don't really recommend 
+R.

IMO, if they don't "really" support +R, then they should "really" 
remove +R from the list of supported media in the system profiler and 
wherever else they mention it as ok for use in their machines.
