For computers other than laptops that travel there's no disadvantage 
in a power brick and it reduces the load on the system PSU. It also 
reduces the chance that plugging in just one more thing will stop 
things from working. Powered hubs use such poor power bricks that I'd 
rather not use that middle ground except where I have to.
