Yeah, you're correct on this. What you can do though is cross  
something out, initial it and sign the contract. If the other party  
doesn't review it and agree to the change, then the contract is void.  
Which essentially means that since it was never a valid contract in  
the first place, they can't get you for an early cancellation fee.
