Many Mac-users will recommend Drive Savers because they have been  
around for a long time and they are known for doing good work.   
Previously I would have recommend them also.

But recent experience leads me to believe that they are just too full  
of themselves now.  They will charge you a fortune, and they will  
likely refuse to recover any applications at all, only files, and  
only the types of files that you both agree on.  I say...the heck  
with them.  Fortunately there is plenty of competition.
